Santa Cruz do Sul (RS) – The purpose of transforming people’s lives and providing a positive impact on society is an aspiration that guides many companies. An example is the case of UTC Brasil, which strives to change the course of history for residents of Vale do Rio Pardo by offering opportunities that guarantee health, well-being and quality of life. Located in the Industrial District of Santa Cruz do Sul, UTC Brasil employs approximately 200 permanent employees and offers the possibility of growth for more than a thousand temporary workers every year.

One of the employees whose life is impacted daily by the company is the person in charge of Mechanical Maintenance, Leonel Augusto Dettenborn, 35 years old. He started at UTC Brasil as an intern seven years ago and was part of important moments in the tobacco company, such as the move from Venâncio Aires to Santa Cruz. “UTC is excellent, I think the biggest challenge was the move, but it’s cool how committed everyone was and it was an incredible learning experience. I would do it all over again”, he points out.

Leonel adds that the company is always focused on improving processes and transforming people’s lives, ensuring essential health care and monitoring. “Looking back I realize how much UTC has helped in my life and in the lives of many people”. Dettenborn also highlights the opportunity to be part of the company’s evolution. “This excites and makes us want to work more and more, because the company is all the employees here”, he concludes.

Focus on health and well-being – Ensuring employee health is one of the pillars of UTC Brasil, which provides free services in partnership with the Social Service for Industry (SESI) in the area of prevention and care, such as free dental care and the Campaign Total Health. Also in the area of health, the Cervical Cancer Prevention Campaign was developed in partnership with the Integrated Health Service (SIS) of the University of Santa Cruz do Sul (Unisc).

Mental health in the workplace is an increasingly current topic. According to Human Resources Manager, Rosiane Dullius, the company’s culture involves caring for the well-being of employees. That is why UTC has the Escuta do Bem Brigada Psicossocial initiative, which consists of a group of employees trained to listen and help employees in situations that impact their mental and emotional health.

“Escuta do Bem is aimed at employees who seek help. They can be assisted by trained professionals within the company with complete secrecy. The goal is to offer support to help employees in difficult moments”, she comments.

Among the benefits, the company provides temporary employees with a food ticket, Profit Sharing Program (PPR), attendance bonus, in-house restaurant for meals and breakfast, chartered transportation, pharmacy card. For permanent employees, it has a Unimed and Uniodonto health plan, life insurance, glasses/lenses assistance and several agreements with language schools and educational institutions.
